The winery "Bodegas Campillo" is located outside of Laguardia in the Spanish Rioja sub-area Rioja Alavesa
, It was founded in 1861 and has been part of the group since 1990 Faustino
, In the past, Campillo was a second brand of Faustino, so to speak. New barriques were only used for the Campillo wines, in order to "use them" and - as one thought - to take the edge off them. However, this had the (undesired) effect that the second wine (Campillo) was often better than the first wine (Faustino). Campillo is now viewed and marketed as an independent brand. The vineyards cover 50 hectares of vineyards, which are mainly planted with Tempranillo, as well as Graciano, Viura, Malvasía and Cabernet Sauvignon. The product range includes Reserva Especial (60% Tempranillo, 40% others), Gran Reserva (100% Tempranillo), Reserva (75% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 15% others), Crianza (100% Tempranillo), Rosado (100% Tempranillo) ) and Blanco (Viura, Malvasía). Around 20% of production is exported.
