There are two grape varieties with this name; nothing is known about a possible relationship:
The white grape variety comes from Italy. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. In 2016, no stock was reported (statistics Kym Anderson).
The white grape variety (also Kanella) originates from Cyprus. The name is derived from "cinnamon"(cinnamon). The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. Possibly there is a relation to the variety Morocanella. The variety was rediscovered by the Cypriot oenologist Akis Zambartas. It is mainly used as a blend. However, no stock was recorded in 2016 (statistics Kym Anderson).
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
