Cannavan Tom

The Scottish wine journalist and wine critic Tom Cannavan is considered a pioneer in terms of the internet presence of the subject of wine. In his youth, he was active in the music styles of punk, new wave, funk and soul as singer, guitarist and songwriter of the band Restricted Code. Since 1995, he has been running the wine website WINE.PAGES.COM. It is considered one of the best in the world and was also praised by wine pope Robert M. Parker in his "The Wine Buyerֹ's Guide". Cannavan's book "The Good Web Guide to Wine" was published in 2000. He is a regular contributor to Decanter, The Sunday Times, The Independent, World of Fine Wine and Wine Report, edited by Jancis Robinson. In 2008, he won the Louis Roederer Award for International Online Writer of the Year. That year he also founded the online magazine "The Wine Gang" with four other writers, which features (also live) wine tastings. Cannavan is also the "resident wine expert" on Fred MacAulay's daily BBC Radio Scotland show "Macaulay & Co". He launched the "Festival of Wine" in 2016 with with consumer wine tastings in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. In 2018, Cannavan was named "Wine Communicator of ther Year" by the IWSC.
