Cape Blend

In South Africa Common name for a typical Cuvée, for which there are no legal requirements or no uniform rule. The mixture consists of the local main or determining variety Pinotage (usually between 30-70%), as well as in different compositions and uses of Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot and Shiraz ( Syrah ). The prevailing opinion is that the pinotage percentage should not be too high. In order to be able to list a grape variety on the label, the proportion must be at least 20%. The first producer to use this name was Beyerskloof.
