Cape Mentelle

The winery is headquartered in the city Margaret River in the wine region of the same name (GI) in the state of Western Australia (Zone South West Australia) was founded in 1970 by the well-known Australian entrepreneur David Hohnen, the winery was opened in 1977. In addition to viticulture, fruit growing is also carried out. The business has been like the New Zealand sister property since 2003 Cloudy Bay owned by the luxury goods company LVMH, The vineyards are close to the city and cover over 200 hectares of vineyards. They are planted with the red varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Shiraz and Zinfandel, as well as with the white varieties Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. In addition to the varietal wines, the cuvées Georgiana and Marmaduke are produced. The flagship of the house is a classic Bordeaux blend (mainly CS, Merlot, CF, Petit Verdot), which is aged for 15 months in American and French barriques.
