The red grape variety is identical to the Spanish variety Parraleta. Synonyms are Carcaghjolu Neru and Carcajolo Nero. TheyThe Italian ampelographer Bruno Bruni suspects that it came to Corsica from Sardinia via the port of Bonifacio, which is also indicated by synonyms such as Bonifaccencu. In Corsica, it now occupies only a few hectares; in Sardinia, it is cultivated under the name Carcajolo Nero. The white variety Carcajolo Blanc (Bariadorgia), also cultivated in Corsica, is not related. In 2016, no stocks were recorded under the name Carcajolo Noir (Kym Anderson).
