The winery is located in the municipality of Pozzol Groppo (province of Alessandria) in the Italian region of Piedmont. It was founded in 1998 by Paolo Carlo Ghislandi; the first wine was bottled in 2004 and marketed in 2008. The cellar master is the owner, the oenologist Mario Maffi is in charge. Great attention is paid to the balance of the ecosystem by using renewable energy in the supply of water, electricity and heat. The cellar is furnished according to the most modern standards. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vines and only our own grapes are used. They are planted with the red wine varieties Barbera, Croatina, Freisa, Albarossa, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Ancellotta, and with the white wine varieties Cortese, Timorasso, Favorita (Vermentino), Malvasia di Candia (Malvasia Bianca di Candia) and Moscato.

The vinification of all wines is done by spontaneous fermentation and without filtration. Sulphur (sulphites) is either completely avoided or used very restrictively. The red wines are fermented with long maceration. For the white wines, after cold mashing, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature and cold stabilisation and clarification by settling. All wines are produced with the above mentioned varieties as DOC Colli Tortonesi. Among the premium wines are "Brezza d'Estate" (Timorasso, 18 months in barrique and then in bottle); "Bruma d'Autunno" (Barbera from an old vineyard of 1926, 5 years of ageing in steel and oak); and Spumante "Chiaror sul Masso" (Timorasso, bottle fermentation after 18 months, then ageing on yeast for 8 to 12 months). About 50.000 to 60.000 bottles of wine are produced annually. There are exports to Switzerland, Japan, Germany, USA, Korea and Hong Kong. The winery is a founding member of the FIVI (Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti), and a member of the Consorzio tutela vini doc Tortona, Coldiretti and Slow Food.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
