Cassianus Bassus

Cassianus Bassus (late 6th to early 7th century), a native of Bithynia, Asia Minor, with the surname Scholasticus (lawyer), compiled a collection of excerpts from various writings on agriculture or agricultural topics with the Greek title "Eklogai peri georgias" (Collection on Agriculture, - lat. "Eclogae de re rustica") from 30 partly preserved partly lost ancient authors. This was the basis for the Geoponika produced in the 10th century.
