Castellana Blanca

The white grape variety originates from Spain. Synonyms are Tolociriana and Tolocirlana. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it is a presumably natural cross between Garró(Mandón) x unknown variety. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see Molecular genetics). Castallena Blanca was a parent of the varieties Godello, Gouveio Real, Praca, Tinto de Navalcarnero and Verdejo, which were created by presumably natural crosses. The variety used to be widespread in Castile-León; today it is grown in only small quantities in the Canary Islands. In 2016, one hectare of vineyard was designated (Kym Anderson statistics).
