The red grape variety comes from Italy, Synonyms are Alicante Barletta, Calabrese, Castigliono, Greco, Mantonico Nero, Marchesana, Zagarese and Zagarolese; see also under Greco Nero, Due to apparently indicative synonyms or morphological No similarities with the varieties Magliocco Canino. Magliocco Dolce or Nerello cappuccio (Castiglione) can be confused. The late ripening vine is mostly blended with the varieties Gaglioppo. Nocera and Prunesta used. It is almost exclusively in Calabria grown where they are in DOC wine Bivongi is allowed. Small quantities are also available in Campania, In 2010, 18 hectares of vineyards were shown with a strongly falling trend.
