Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition

The international wine and spirits competition was founded in 2008 by the California-born and Hong Kong journalist and wine critic Debra Meiburg (MW) founded. The main sponsor and namesake is the airline "Cathay Pacific" based in Hong Kong. Meiburg also works as a juror, chairing it. The judges come from China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and India. The event will be in partnership with International Wine & Spirit Competition and is now the largest of its kind in Asia. The main goal is to select wines and spirits specifically for the Asian market and, as a special feature, to support the award-winning producers with a worldwide PR campaign in terms of marketing. The wine evaluation takes place after 100-point system based on blind tastings, Products with a minimum score of 90+ gold (excellent), 80+ silver (excellent) and 75+ silver (above average) will enter the final tournament. There are the tasting categories region, area, grape, type (still wine, sparkling wine, fortified wine, rice wine, spirits), vintage and age. The final result will be presented or published at a gala at the "Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair" in November. See also under awards and wine Events,
