Centgrafenberg

single vineyard in the municipality of Bürgstadt (Mainviereck area) in the German growing region of Franconia. The term "cent" means tithe, the cent count collected the "tenth part" in kind for the Archbishop of Mainz. The current extent of the site resulted from the land consolidation in 1971, when the six sites or Gewanne Bischof, Gries, Hohenlinde, Hunsrück, Vogelsberg and Walzrain were added. However, in 2011, the Gewann Hunsrück was officially re-entered into the Franconian vineyard register as an independent site under the old name Hundsrück (with "d"). The south-west and south-southeast facing vineyards at 150 to 250 metres above sea level with slopes of 10 to 40% cover 46 hectares of vineyards. The stony soils consist of red chalk weathering interspersed with sand and clay with changing fine soils. There is a good water supply. The varieties cultivated here include Frühburgunder, Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner and Riesling. The vineyards Fürst Rudolf, Stich Gerhard, Stritzinger and Walter Josef, for example, have shares in the site.
