Cerasuolo

Italian name for the cherry red color of a very light rosé wine. The name probably derives from the ancient Sicilian dialect expression "Cerasa" (cherry). The name is for example in DOC wine Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo (Abruzzo) and in DOCG wine Cerasuolo di Vittoria (Sicily) included. The dark rosé wines are called chiaretto designated. See also below Rose,
