Italian term for the cherry-red colour of a rosé wine. The name is derived from the old Sicilian dialect term "Cerasa" (cherry). The designation is found, for example, in the DOC wine Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo (Abruzzo) and in the DOCG wine Cerasuolo di Vittoria (Sicily). Lighter rosé wines are called Chiaretto.
