The winery is located in the municipality of Grézillac in the Entre-deux-Mers area south of Saint-Émilion(Bordeaux). Its origins date back to the 18th century, when the château also dates back. In 1877, it was taken over by Léonce Récapet, who had made a fortune from the production of liqueurs. He passed the property on to his descendants in the 1950s. In 1956, his maternal grandson André Lurton (1924-2019) took over the business with 30 hectares of vines and continuously expanded it to its current size. Today, the vineyards cover 240 hectares of vines, half of which are planted with the white wine varieties Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, and half with the red wine varieties Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Only the white wines are authorised for the Entre-deux-Mers appellation. The second wine is called "Le Colombey". The red wines are marketed as AOC Bordeaux.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
