The vineyard is located in the municipality of Barsac in the Sauternes region (Bordeaux). The name comes from the stones (cailloux) that come to the surface during ploughing and are used to surround the vineyard. It has been owned by J. B. Bravo and Marie-José Pierre since 1969. In the 1855 Bordeaux classification, it was ranked 2nd (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé). The vineyards cover 16 hectares of vines planted with Sémillon (90%) and Sauvignon Blanc (10%). The long-lasting, noble sweet wine is matured for three years in regularly renewed barriques. The second wine is called "Petit Mayne".
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
