The winery is located in the municipality of Bommes in the area Sauterne
(Graves, Bordeaux). In the Bordeaux Classification
in 1855 it was classified as "Premier Cru Classé". Originally it was part of the Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey
and was separated from this in 1879 (see history there). Since 1934 it is owned by the Pauly family. The vineyards cover 15 hectares and are planted with the varieties Sémillon (83%), Sauvignon Blanc (15%) and Muscadelle (2%). The extremely long-lived noble sweet wine is aged 18 to 22 months in 25% new oak barrels. The family also owns the "Château Haut-Bommes", where the eponymous second wine is produced.
