Chateau Couhins

The estate is located in the commune of Villenave-d'Ornon Pessac-Léognan in Graves (Bordeaux). It was created in 1968 by the INRA bought by the Gasqueton and Hanappier families to do wine research. The vineyards cover 14 hectares of vineyards, including ten hectares with Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (40%), Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and four hectares with Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. As the only winery in the Graves area, only the white wine is classified as "Cru Classé". Half of it is cut from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Until the end of the 1970s, all of André's wine was Lurton produced, which had acted as a tenant before the INRA purchase. Then INRA took over the business itself. Lurton acquired part of the vineyards in 1967 and founded it Château Couhins-Lurton,
