The winery is located in the municipality of Gigondas in the French appellation of the same name in the Rhône region. The name is derived from the Saint Cosme chapel, which was built in 1109 and is also depicted on the bottle labels. This traditional estate, one of the oldest in the region, was acquired in 1570 by the ancestors of the current owners, the Barruol family. Louis Barruol has been running the business since 1992. In 2007, a newly built wine cellar was put into operation, and in the same year a wine trade was started. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vines with an average age of over 60 years. The yields are reduced to an average of 27 hectolitres per hectare.
