The winery is located in the municipality of Vire-sur-Lot in the Cahors area in the south-west of France. It was founded in 1958 by Charles Verhaeghe. Today it is run by his sons Jean-Marc and Pascal Verhaeghe. The vineyards cover 27 hectares of vines, planted with the red wine varieties Cot (90%), Merlot and Tannat, as well as the white wine varieties Viognier, Sémillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc. The Cahors luxury version "Le Cèdre" is matured in new barriques. Some of the red wines are produced using micro-oxygenation. In 2000, the "Domaine Marcevol" vineyard with 12 hectares of vines in the Côtes du Roussillon area was taken over with a partner.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
