Château du Glana

The estate is located in the commune of Beychevelle Saint-Julien in the Médoc (Bordeaux). In the Bordeaux Classification according to the old system, which is no longer valid, it was last classified as "Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel" in 2003. It was founded in 1870, at that time the property consisted of a few separate parcels of the Château Saint-Pierre, It has been owned by Gabriel Meffre since 1961. There is no chateau, the winery is in the middle of the vineyards. These cover 43 hectares of vineyards planted with the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (30%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The long-lived red wine is aged in 45% new barriques for 12 months. The second wines are called "Pavillon du Glana" and "Château Sirène".
