The winery is located in the municipality of Caillac in the Cahors area in the wine-growing region of south-west France. It was founded in 1503 by Adhemar de Massaut. In 1980, the neglected estate was taken over and restored by Alain Dominique Perrin, an entrepreneur active in the luxury sector. He is an ardent advocate of the Malbec variety. The oenologist Michel Rolland acted as consultant. The cellar facilities, which were renovated after being analysed, were put into operation in 2011. The vineyards cover 90 hectares of vines planted with the red wine varieties Malbec (Cot), Merlot and Tannat, as well as the white wine varieties Chardonnay and Viognier. The vineyards are cultivated according to the rules of biodynamic viticulture. Between 70,000 and 120,000 bottles of the Lagrézette brand are produced each year. Total production amounts to around 500,000 bottles, which are exported to China, Japan, the USA, Ecuador, Brazil and Europe.
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
