Château Les Ormes-de-Pez

The estate is located in the municipality of Pez in the area Saint-Estèphe in the Médoc (Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux). In the Bordeaux Classification According to the old system, which is no longer valid, it was last classified as "Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel" in 2003. The estate was made from vineyards in the 18th century Château de Pez emerged. In 1930 it was owned by Jean-Charles Cazes (+1972), today it is run by his grandson Jean-Michel Cazes. That belongs to the family too Château Lynch-Bages, It was there that Les Ormes-de-Pez was vinified until 1981, when a new winery was opened. The vineyards cover 33 hectares of vines with the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (20%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). The long-lived red wine is aged for 12 to 15 months in used barrels from Lynch-Bages.
