The winery is located in the municipality Moulis (Moulis-en-Médoc) in the same area in the Médoc (Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux). In the Bordeaux Classification according to the old now no longer valid system, it was last classified in 2003 as "Cru Bourgeois". The estate has nothing to do with the Beaujolais Cru situation Moulin-à-Vent to do. It was in succession in the possession of the wine trading house dourthe, as well as the families Kaskoreff, Gilbon and Darricarrère. The latter sold the property to Dominique and Marie-Hélène Hessel in 1977. The vineyards cover 25 hectares and are planted with the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (38%) and Petit Verdot (2%). The long-lived red wine is aged in oak barrels. The second wine is called "Moulin-de-St-Vincent".
