The winery is located in the municipality Moulis (Moulis-en-Médoc) in the area of the same name in the Médoc (Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux). In the Bordeaux Classification According to the old system, which is no longer valid, it was last classified as "Cru Bourgeois" in 2003. The estate has nothing to do with the Beaujolais-Cru location Moulin-à-Vent to do. It was owned by the wine trading house one after the other dourthe, as well as the Kaskoreff, Gilbon and Darricarrère families. The latter sold the property to Dominique and Marie-Hélène Hessel in 1977. The vineyards cover 25 hectares and are planted with the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (38%) and Petit Verdot (2%). The long-lived red wine is aged in barriques. The second wine is called "Moulin-de-St-Vincent".
