The small appellation lies around the small town Die in the department Drôme
in the east of the wine-growing region Rhone
, The area around the city is called Diois, which means “in the country on the Drôme”. The AC is named after the municipality on the Drôme tributary Bez. The vineyards cover around 60 hectares of vineyards on the slopes of the upper Drôme valley. Red wine and rosé are mainly blended from Gamay, as well as up to 25% Syrah and Pinot Noir. The white wine is made from Aligoté and Chardonnay.
