Chopine

French gauge block (also Chaupine, Chopaine) for liquids. The volume corresponded to 476.073 millilitres. That was a 1/72 cubic king's foot (Pied de Roi). Chopine has a close connection with Schoppen (see in detail there). This was originally a Low German word, borrowed into French and from there backed into Upper German. See also a complete list under hollow measures.
