The winery is located in the municipality of San Felice Del Molise (Campobasso province) in the Italian region of
Molise. The family has been growing wine since 1930. The farm is run by Claudio Cipressi, the responsible cellar master is Lucca Vecchio, the responsible oenologist is Vincenzo Mercurio. The vineyards cover 15 hectares. Of these, the red
lead variety Tintilia (
Tintilia del Molise) occupies 11 hectares. Claudio Cipressi has rendered great service to the preservation of this local variety, which is threatened with extinction. Other varieties are
Montepulciano,
Falanghina and
Trebbiano Toscano. Since 2001, the
vineyard has been managed according to the guidelines of
organic viticulture, and since 2013, also with regard to cellar work. The farm has been certified by
ICEA since 2012, and since the 2014 vintage only
organic wines are produced.
The modern winery is divided into the fermentation cellar, maturing, bottling and storage areas. The cellar work is carried out according to
non-invasive principles with as few interventions as possible. The grapes are selectively picked by hand and only healthy and
physiologically ripe grapes are processed. The product range includes red, rosé and white wines, produced and marketed as DOP
Del Molise,
Tintilia del Molise or IGT. Premium wines include the red wines "Tintilia 66" (from plot 66), which matures for 36 months and is only marketed after 5 years from bottling, "Macchianera" (85% Montepulciano and 15% Tintilia, 18 months in barrique and 6 months in bottle) and "Macchiarossa" (Tintilia, 48 months in steel tank and 6 months in bottle), as well as the white wine "Viora" (Falanghina). The annual production is around 40,000 bottles, 30% of which are exported to Switzerland, England, the USA and Japan. The winery is a member of the "Movimento Turismo del Vino" (wine tourism movement).
