CIVC

Abbreviation for the professional association founded in 1941 "Comité Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne"; a semi-public organization under the sovereignty of the French Government. She is the representative of the Vignerons (winemakers) and Négociants (Dealer) in the Champagne from whose fees the budget results. The main task is the creation and monitoring of all conditions regarding the production of champagne, The presidency consists of one president each of the winemakers and the traders. Both are supported by the "Comission Consultative", which is made up of six representatives each of the winegrowers and traders. This commission adopts the decisions and supervises the work of some committees with the tasks of communication, coordination between winegrowers and traders, technical research and development of the champagne market. In the fall, recommendations will be made at the time of vintage given, the hectare yield determined and the grape prices determined. See under Échelle of the crus,
