Abbreviation for the professional association "Comité Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne" founded in 1941; a semi-public organization under the sovereignty of the French government. It represents the interests of the Vignerons (winegrowers) and Négociants (Dealer) in the Champagne whose fees result in the budget. The main task is to create and monitor all conditions related to the production of champagne, The chair consists of a president of the winemaker and the dealer. Both are supported by the "Comission Consultative", which is made up of six representatives of the winemakers and dealers. This commission adopts the decisions and monitors the work of some committees with the tasks of communication, coordination between winemakers and dealers, technical research and development of the champagne market. In the fall, recommendations for the timing of the vintage handed over, the hectare yield fixed and the grape prices determined. See under Échelle des crus,
