Clarin

The white grape variety (also EM 573-11) is a new breed between Carignan Blanc x Cinsault, This descent was first revealed in 2012 DNA analysis, which was however based on only 20 markers (see under molecular Genetics ). Until then, the parenting Ugni Blanc listed in the breeding list ( Trebbiano Toscano ) x Clairette Blanche ( Clairette ). The crossing took place in 1953 by Paul Truel (* 1924) on behalf of the INRA in the Domaine de Vassal in Montpellier, The variety is in the department Hérault in the Languedoc grown. In 2010, six hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson ).
