The white grape variety (also E.M. 573-11) is a new breeding between Carignan Blanc x Cinsaut according to DNA analyses carried out in 2013. The parentage Ugni Blanc (Trebbiano Toscano) x Clairette Blanche (Clairette) stated in the breeding list turned out to be wrong. The cross was made in 1953 by Paul Truel (1924-2014) on behalf of INRA at the Domaine de Vassal. The variety is grown in the Hérault department in Languedoc. In 2016, six hectares of vines were designated (Kym Anderson statistics).
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
