The winery is located in Heidelberg in the German wine-growing region of Baden. Fruit growing is also carried out on one hectare. A restaurant in the middle of the vineyards called "Gaudeamusstube" is attached. Wine tastings and events are organised. The farm is run by Jörg Clauer. The vineyards cover 14.5 hectares of vineyards on calcareous loess and shell limestone in the single vineyard sites Dormenacker and Sonnenseite ob der Bruck. They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Sauvignon Bl anc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, as well as with the red wine varieties Frühburgunder, Schwarzriesling, Cabernet Mitos and St. Laur ent. The entire area is laid out almost contiguously around the winery, which allows short distances for the grapes to reach the cellar. The vinification of the wines takes place exclusively in the winery's own cellar. Depending on the type of wine, it is matured in stainless steel tanks, in traditional large wooden barrels or in barriques. A speciality is the "Heidelberg Ink". This product was created in 2003 in cooperation with the two traditional Heidelberg companies, the Clauer Winery and Knoblauch pen & paper. The Pinot Noir ink provides an exclusive writing experience. When the pen is moved across the paper with the Pinot Noir ink, the natural dye oxidises and the deep wine red changes colour slightly.
The wein.plus encyclopaedia is a comprehensive, well-researched reference work. Available anytime and anywhere, it has become an indispensable part of teaching, used by students and myself alike. Highly recommended!
