Grand Cru vineyard in the municipality of Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte d'Or region (Burgundy). It was already mentioned at the beginning of the 12th century under the former name "La Forge". In 1141, it was acquired by the St Bernardine abbey "Notre-Dame de Tart" and was given its current name. After a chequered history with several changes of ownership, the site was acquired as a monopole in 1932 by Joanny Mommessin, a wine merchant based in Mâcon (Beaujolais). It was classified as a Grand Cru in 1939. The "Domaine du Clos de Tart" has been managed by Sylvain Piteot since 1996, who has implemented a number of quality-improving measures. A yield restriction was introduced, chemical fertilisers were dispensed with and the cement fermentation tanks were replaced with stainless steel. The vineyard, which faces east-south-east at around 300 metres above sea level, covers 7.5 hectares of vines on weathered limestone. The Clos in the name refers to an enclosure with walls. To the north is the Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru vineyard, to the south is the Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru vineyard.

The vineyard is cultivated according to ecological guidelines. The average age of the vines is over 50 years; the oldest vines were planted back in 1918. A third of a hectare is replanted every three years. The extremely long-lasting red wine, which generally contains 13% alcohol by volume, is made exclusively from Pinot Noir. However, Pinot Liébault and Pinot Beurot (a mutation of Pinot Gris) are also authorised, and theoretically up to 15% Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc could also be used. The grapes, most of which are destemmed, are crushed at a low temperature before fermentation for better extraction. The parcels are vinified individually. Only the best wines from a tasting are brought into the Grand Vin. Maturation in barrique barrels, which are always new, lasts 18 to 24 months and bottling takes place without fining or filtration. Around 30,000 bottles of wine are produced each year. The wines not deemed worthy of Clos de Tart are marketed under the AOC Morey-Saint Denis Premier Cru with the site designation "La Forge".
