The predominant indigenous red variety Ramisco is grown rootless and must drill its roots in the deeply underlying clay layer. From the sandy bottom, a dark and tannic red wine from at least 80% Ramisco is pressed, which is aged for up to three years in a wooden barrel. At best, the wine that can be stored for decades should only be opened after 10 to 15 years. A lower quality comes from the firmer soil a little further from the coast, this is usually sold for cuttings in the barrel. From mainly Malvasia de Colares, as Arinto. Galego Dourado and Jampal is pressed in small quantities a white variant. The wine is threatened with extinction. The most famous of the few producers is Antonio Bernardino Paulo da Silva.
