The white grape variety is a new breed between Palomino x Colombard. It was crossed in 1978 in South Africa at the Nietvoorbij Institute for Viticulture and Oenology of the University of Stellenbosch. The name was formed from the two parent variety names. The variety is grown in small quantities in the Geographical Unit Northern Cape and in the District of Stellenbosch. In 2016, two hectares of vineyard area were designated (Statistics Kym Anderson).
