The company "Obrist SA" with headquarters in the municipality of Vevey in the Swiss canton Vaud
was founded in 1854 by Emmanuel Obrist as a wine merchant. His son Emile bought in 1896 from the 12th -century vineyard Cure d'Attalens above Vevey and thus went into its own production. Over time, the estate has been expanded with the purchase of numerous vineyard items, such as Passage du Romain, Domaine du Manoir, Château de Chardonne, Château de Mont, Château de Perroy, Château de Vinzel and Clos du Rocher. The vineyards in Vaud and in the Wallis
comprise a total of 65 hectares. In 1961 Obrist became a member of the group Schenk
connected, but continues to operate very independently.
There are a wide range of products due to the many locations. The red wines are mainly made from Pinot Noir and Gamay with shares of Garanoir and Gamaret, the white wines from Chasselas. The top products achieve high ratings, for example in the magazine Wine Spectator
, In 1968 Obrist founded the two wineries Junod (Aigle, Vaud) and Gay
(Chamoson, Valais), but continue to produce under its own label. The annual total turnover with the own production in the Valais and in the Vaud, as well as from the trade with Swiss and foreign wines amounts to approximately 8.5 million bottles.
