Condrieu

Classified as Cru (Top Appellation) area in the northern section of the Rhone, The name means river bend. The vineyards cover about 100 hectares of vineyards in seven municipalities on the right bank of the Rhone in the départements Ardèche, Loire and Rhône on a distance of 20 kilometers. The vineyards with often steeper Tilt are on terraces which were hit in the southern slopes of granite rock. They are among the steepest vineyards Europe. The long-lasting white wine is sorted Viognier pressed and resembles Château-Grillet, Partly it is still bottled in the traditional yellow bottles "Flûte de Condrieu". A lover of wine was the novelist Marie-Henri Stendhal (1783-1842). Well-known producers are Domaine du Chene, Clusel-Roch, Yves Cuilleron, Delas, Pierre Dumazet, Gangloff, Guigal. Jaboulet-Aîné, André Perret, Robert Néro, Philippe Pichon, Domaine René Rostaing, Georges Vernay and Verzier.
