Corkyboy

Brand name of a special corkscrew, whose helix (spiral) does not pierce the cork compared to conventional devices. According to the manufacturer, this prevents disturbing cork crumbs from getting into the wine. By means of a handy ball, the Teflon-coated spiral is turned only approx. 35 millimetres into the cork and the cork is then unscrewed in the same direction by means of a toggle located under the ball. According to the manufacturer, Corkyboy also works without problems with all plastic corks. This is one of the many variations of a bell corkscrew. The circular part at the left end is a foil cutter.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
