Appellation in the middle section of the Rhône wine-growing region. It was created in 1993 by reorganising the congruent AOC area Clairette de Die. The former AOC wine Clairette de Die Tradition was renamed Coteaux de Die. The vineyards in 31 communes are located next to the eponymous town of Die on the Drôme tributary east of the Rhône. The slightly sparkling white wine is produced purely from the Clairette Blanche variety. However, up to a maximum of 10% of the mutation Clairette Rose is allowed, because the two are often grown together.
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
