Coteaux du Vendômois

The appellation, named after the city of Vendôme, lies north of the area Touraine in the winegrowing region Loire, The vineyards are located on both banks of the Loire tributary upstream from Loir Jasnières, The white wine is made from Chenin Blanc with a maximum of 20% Chardonnay. The red wine is blended from Pineau d'Aunis (at least 30%), Gamay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The rosé wine is produced from Pineau d'Aunis and a maximum of 30% Gamay. A specialty is a lightly pressed one Vin gris (very light rosé wine) from Pineau d'Aunis. Well-known producers are Domaine du Four à Chaux, Patrice Colin, Emile Heredia and Domaine Minier.
