The appellation is located in the south of the large Entre-deux-Mers area (Bordeaux) and forms the southern extension of the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux area. The appellation is designed for 2,300 hectares of vines, but only 30 hectares of these are used in ten communes. It applies to sweet to noble white wines from the Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle varieties. The more important red wines are produced under AOC Bordeaux or Bordeaux Supérieur. In the immediate vicinity are the three appellations Cadillac - Côtes de Bordeaux, Loupiac and Sainte-Croix-du-Mont.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
