Côtes de Meliton

Appellation (grch. Playies Melitona, engl. Slopes of Meliton) on the peninsula Sithonia (middle finger of Chalkidike) in the Greek region of Macedonia. The vineyards cover 475 hectares and are terraced along the Aegean coast on the western slopes of the eponymous mountain Meliton (811 m). The area was replanted in the early 1960s with the support of the famous French oenologist Professor Émile Peynaud (1912-2004) according to scientific findings. The POP area applies to red wine from the Limnio, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc varieties, as well as white wine from the Athiri Aspro, Assyrtiko and Roditis varieties. The area is solely owned by the Domaine Carras.
