Cotes du Forez

The appellation is located around the town of Boën-sur-Lignon east of the area Saint-Pourçain at the top of the run Loire in central France. It was classified in 1955 as VDQS and 2001 as AOC. The vineyards cover 200 hectares of vineyards in 21 municipalities. The red and rosé wines are sorted from Gamay (similar to the Beaujolais ) produced.
