Appellation in the middle section of the Rhône wine-growing region. It was created in 1993 by reorganising the congruent AOC area Clairette de Die. The former AOC wine Clairette de Die Mousseux was renamed Crémant de Die. The vineyards in 31 communes are located next to the eponymous town of Die on the Drôme tributary east of the Rhône. The sparkling wine, produced according to the Champagne method, is mainly blended from the Clairette Blanche variety, as well as portions of the two varieties Aligoté and Muscat Blanc. However, up to a maximum of 10% of the mutation Clairette Rose is allowed, because the two Clairette varieties are often cultivated in a mixture.
