The sherry and port wine company was founded under the name "Phayre and Bradley" in 1678. In 1736, for the first time, a Croft from the English city of York became a partner of the company. After several name changes, the company changed its name to "Croft & Co" from 1769 onwards. The Portuguese company of Croft is the Quinta da Roêda at Pinhão in the Portuguese Douro Valley, from where besides the production of port wine Sherry was also exported from Jerez for centuries. The most famous port wine brand is called "Distinction". In 1952, the port wine company Morgan Brothers was taken over. Another milestone was the founding of a production in 1970 sherry in Jerez with construction of modern Bodegas on 200 meters in length. With the very successful "Pale Cream" a new type was created. The vineyards in Jerez cover 350 hectares. The best products are "Fino Delicado" and "Palo Cortado". The company finally came into the possession of the multinational Diageo, This sold in 2001 the port part of Fladgate Partnership, whereby the buyer had to commit not to use the brand name Morgan (Diageo owns the brand Captain-Morgan-Rum). The sherry bodegas arrived the same year González Byass sold.
