The sherry and port wine company was founded under the name "Phayre and Bradley" in 1678. In 1736, a croft from the English city of York became a partner in the company. After several name changes, the company changed its name from 1769 to "Croft & Co". The Portuguese company owned by Croft is the Quinta da Roêda near Pinhão in the Portuguese Douro Valley, from where, in addition to the production of port wine Sherry has also been exported from Jerez for centuries. The best-known port wine brand is called "Distinction". In 1952, the port wine company Morgan Brothers was taken over. Another milestone was the establishment of a production for sherry in Jerez with the construction of the most modern bodegas over a length of 200 meters. With the very successful "Pale Cream" a new type was created. The vineyards in Jerez cover 350 hectares. The best products are a "Fino Delicado" and a "Palo Cortado". The company finally came into the possession of the multinationals Diageo, This sold the port wine part in 2001 Fladgate partnership, whereby the buyer had to undertake not to use the Morgan brand name (Diageo owns the Captain Morgan Rum brand). The sherry bodegas were on the same year González Byass sold.
