Crozes-Hermitage

Classified as Cru (top appellation) area in the northern section of the Rhone on the left bank. The vineyards cover 1,300 hectares of vineyards in eleven municipalities in the department Drôme, The wines are similar to those of the northern adjoining area Hermitage but are considered simpler and easier. The red wines are made from the varieties Syrah and maximum 15% Marsanne or Roussanne, the white wines from the varieties Marsanne and Roussanne. A well-known lover of wines was the locally famous Bandit Mandrin. Well-known producers are Albert Belle, Chapoutier, Bernard Chave, Domaine du Colombier, Château de Curson, Desmeure, Domaine des Entrefaux, Fayolle, Alain Graillot, Jaboulet-Aîné and Domaine du Pavillon-Mercurol.
