Cucamonga Valley

AVA area in the South Coast region of California, which extends across the two counties of Riverside and San Bernardino. The historic wine-growing area was planted with the historic Mission vine(Listán Prieto) around 1840. In the 1950s, 14,000 hectares were under vines here, and in the following years viticulture shifted increasingly northwards. Today there are only about 1,000 hectares left.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
