Cylindrocarpon root rot

cylindrocarpon root rot (GB)
Name for a root rot (also called cylindrocarpone cancer), which is caused by the fungus of the same name. It can lead to atrophy and also to the complete death of vines. The disease manifests itself through growth disturbances such as branches dying off from the top, chlorotic foliage, black-brown discoloration of the stem, grafts and roots, as well as cracks in the bark and resin leakage from the stem. Cancerous disease patterns develop as a result of overgrowth attempts. The occurrence is favoured by excessive soil wetness. See also under vine enemies.
