The white grape variety is a new cross between Muscat d'Alexandrie x Chasselas Violet, which was confirmed by DNA analyses carried out in 2012. Synonyms are Darani Ignatzef, Darányi, Darányi Muskotaly, Muscat Darányi Ignac and Muscat Dr. Ignác Darányi. The crossing took place in 1901 in Hungary by the breeder Jozsef Mathiász. The vine was named after the Hungarian Minister of Agriculture Dr. Ignác Darányi (1849-1927). It is mainly used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
