The white grape variety (also Down Seedless) is a new cross between Gold x Perlette. This was also confirmed according to DNA analyses carried out in 2013. The cross was made in 1951 by Dr. Harold P. Olmo (1909-2006) at the Agricultural Experiment Station of the University of California. The seedless vine is used as table grape and for sultanas. It is cultivated in the USA, South Africa, France and Serbia.
