Several ancient authors wrote textbooks on agriculture under this title (On Rural Affairs), some of which dealt extensively with viticulture. Although Petrus de Crescentiis gave his work a slightly different title, it also dealt with the same subject. He quotes several authors and takes the structure of Columella's work as his model. The author Cassianus Bassus "Scholastikus" (late 6th to early 7th century) also deals with the same topic in his work "Eklogai peri georgias", using the works of around 30 ancient authors.
