A term used to summarise a negative assessment in the context of a wine evaluation or wine review. Such a wine has reached the end of its life cycle and is no longer enjoyable. Other terms are dead, lifeless, "the wine is gone", "wine corpse" or "the wine is at the end". The French passé is identical. A preliminary stage that is still just edible is referred to as overaged (superimposed). For the ageing process, see ageing and bottle ageing, and for the optimum time for drinking, see drinking maturity.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
