This disease (also Eutypa lata, wood rot, dead-poor disease, dead-poor disease) has long been known in the apricot. Only in the early 1970s was it observed in Australia that it also occurs in the vine. It is distributed worldwide, especially affecting older vines. In particular, it occurs in a Mediterranean climate (Australia, California, southern France, South Africa).
